“Huge gaps” exist in the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NCIS), according to an article recently published by CNN. Many seem to agree that the FBI’s fingerprinting system is far from fail-proof.
One major setback is that the FBI’s NCIS check system is “only as good as the information fed into the system.” Some worry that the NCIS may be incomplete because some states do not enter all criminal convictions into the system.
Because the FBI is only able to see what is actually submitted by the state, it is agreed across the board that a professional background check is much more comprehensive than the FBI’s fingerprinting.
